A little idea. A lot of heart.
We believe the smallest gestures can make the biggest difference. A surprise on an ordinary Tuesday. A thoughtful thank you. A little something to let someone know they're loved, appreciated or simply being thought of.
That's why we created KULA. But our story started long before the first brownie was baked.
We're Marianne and Thomas, the couple behind KULA. We met years ago by chance on the little island of Nusa Lembongan in Indonesia. Marianne, originally from Ireland, was living in London, while Thomas was based in Switzerland. One chance encounter eventually turned into a life together in Zürich.
With very different backgrounds — Marianne in corporate marketing and events, Thomas a three-time Swiss Olympian turned business leader — we shared a curiosity about the world and a desire to do something meaningful.
So we took time out to travel, volunteer and experience different cultures. What stayed with us most wasn't the places we visited, but the people we met. Communities where looking out for one another, sharing and small acts of kindness were simply part of everyday life.
It got us thinking about how easily those little gestures can get lost in our busy lives.
At the same time, we often wanted to send something thoughtful to friends and family back in Switzerland. To cheer someone up, celebrate a milestone or simply say, "I'm thinking of you." But finding something beautiful, personal and genuinely special to receive wasn't always easy.
We wanted to change that.
The idea finally came together during three months spent in the Swiss mountains after our travels.
Marianne's lifelong passion for food, baking and especially brownies gave us the perfect starting point. After all, food has an incredible way of bringing people together and making them smile.
But we never wanted KULA to be just about brownies.
We wanted to create an entire gifting experience. From the colourful packaging and delicious, handcrafted brownies to the personal message inside, every detail is designed to make the person receiving it feel special.
Because it's not just about what you give. It's about how you make someone feel.
Today, we're building KULA one thoughtful box at a time, helping people celebrate, connect and show appreciation, whether it's for a loved one, a friend or someone at work.
And if we can bring a little more kindness, connection and joy into someone's day, then we're doing exactly what we set out to do.
